Julie's Letter to Ellen Degeneres

March 17, 2007

Hello Ellen,

My name is Julie Sargent. I have written you many times over the past year and sent my video to your show. This is my newest letter. I am an 8th grade student at WestBoylstonMiddle School.

I really love your show. My mom and I watch you all the time. She thinks you are great and tells me that I remind her of you. Especially my dance moves.

My family is very large, my parents adopted 7 children, bringing us up to 10 kids in all. My parents started a non profit organization called USAdoption Solutions to help other kids get homes.

I decided to help raise money for the charity and so far I have done pretty well. My Taekwondo school helped me raise 5,000 dollars doing a Kick-a-thon. I also ran in the Disney 3k race in January and raised $1,000. Last Summer we traveled all the way to Alaska and raised $10,000!

I am raising my goals and I am writing to you, to ask your viewers for help. My family will be driving 8,000 miles from Massachusetts to San Francisco and back this August to raise awareness for the cause. If I could get 4,000 people to raise $250 each in pledges, then I could raise $1,000,000 dollars for the charity. I know if I went on your show I could convince 4,000 to help.

What do you think Ellen? Will you help me get the word out about the trip?

Thank you,

Julie Sargent
